Val West Naber is a Wisconsin artist who uses porcelain as her canvas. She was introduced to the art by a friend, was hooked and began classes in traditional American style painting. After mastering the process, she branched out wanting to learn a more modern approach. Studying with teachers from Switzerland, Portugal, Brazil and all over the USA, she learned many contemporary techniques and methods which she uses in her unique Out of the Box style. There is always something new to learn and her style is ever evolving.
She has won numerous awards for her pieces including MN State Fair Best of Show, Minnesota Porcelain Art Guild-Best of Masters, Silvers Awards in International Porcelain Arts and Teachers competitions, and in the World Organization of China Painters competitions.
Val has served in various positions in these organizations including President of the MN World Organization of China Painters, President and Show Chair for Midwest Regional Porcelain Artist Show and three other shows, has served as VP/Finance Chair, Copy Editor, Registration Chair and Competition Chairman for International Porcelain Artist & Teachers, MPAG Treasurer and is currently First VP of the MN Porcelain Art Guild.
She teaches porcelain art across the Midwest and at her studio north of Menomonie, doing up to 6-three day seminars a year. She is a member of IPAT, WOCP, MPAG and VAA.
