Acrylic or watercolor is generally my media of choice, I also use graphite, colored pencil, mixed media and most recently, collage. Sue Martin, my high school art teacher, greatly influenced me with her encouragement. Over the course of many years I have trained with several artists, learning and gaining the confidence required to open an art studio and small gallery of my own.
In 2018, I left a twenty-year career as a hair and nail designer to become a self-employed artist. The beauty industry is wonderfully artistic; modifying images in new ways to keep audiences interested. I still use my designing skills but in a different way.
In joining an online challenge group, I was able to create 50 pieces inspired by a weekly photo, offering varied subjects, chosen by Cinnamon Cooney, AKA, The Art Sherpa. My strengths include landscapes, realism, fantasy and portraiture.
I am a mom of two active teenage girls and a wife to an entrepreneur. We like to keep life busy and exciting. My husband and I agree that having a passion for what you do makes it easier to achieve success by keeping work fun.
In addition to my website you can find me on Facebook at TJF Art Studio.
