I would like to introduce myself as an Outsider artist that in the mid 1970s until the early 1980s painted portraits, and figures in the style of Matisse. In 2005 I returned to painting portraits, which developed into painting music in 2006.
My connection to music began with accordion lessons when I was seven. In the late sixies I joined a garage band singing backup while playing the electric organ. Over the years I have learn to play a little guitar, piano, violin and alto saxophone, for enjoyment, and to better understand music from a player perspective.
My artistic style has evolved from oils on a single canvas, to acrylic on multiple canvases, to attaching the music made out of wood, to now letting the music flow outside the borders of the canvas.
I can best describe these artworks as illustration of songs not as music to the ears, for that is the purpose of sheet music. Instead these artworks are a visual presentation for the eyes, and an opportunity to touch the music.
When I am not painting my favorite songs I welcome custom musical requests ranging from Classical composers, to Blues, Jazz, Rock, Country, and Pop music.
