For me, making art is like reaching into a grandma cookie jar, not knowing what kinds of cookies are inside. I love experimenting with the many different types of media and seeing what I come up with, which, because I am new to all of this is often a delightful surprise. I first painted in 1999 but life got in the way until I started again in 2012.
I am inspired by the beauty of the Chippewa Valley; the scenery, the wildlife and the seasons. I generally play all summer in the water and on the trails, in kayaks and on bikes. When the cold weather comes, I turn to art and reproduce the things that have inspired me.
My works are reflections of the nature and my wonderful adventures in the sun. My mediums include acrylics, oils, pastels, ink, alcohol inks, oil pastels, watercolor, wood burning, colored pencil, scratch board, and mixed media. I love the process of creating and my projects are often simple surprises, like the unknown cookie I might grab from the cookie jar.
