Media: Paper Plup-Plaster, Pastels

Send me an email.

I first remember being interested in art when I visited galleries with my parents as a kid. I went back to art school after majoring in economics for some bizarre reason and worked on found object sculpture in the 1980s. After our children were born I taught Art and Language Arts at the elementary level and did lots of art at home with my own children.
After wearing different hats over the years, I am now retired and able to spend more time learning to draw and sculpt. Pastels are very fun to work with and so is clay. I am learning to cast clay sculptures into a combination of paper pulp and plaster so the final pieces will be relatively light weight. This process is not easy and is very time consuming. Pastels are much more immediate and user friendly. I enjoy focusing on the formal elements of line, shape, color and texture while also working on gesture and rhythm.
